Working together on a vision for the future

You may have spotted members of the Grounded in Play Committee at Churchill’s recent family movie night. We were there to launch the Schoolyard Rejuvenation Project, and to give parents and teachers their first opportunity to see what we’re up to. As the kids enjoyed their movie, snacking on home-baked treats, pizza and popcorn, we were happy to chat with some of you about our ideas – and, more importantly, hear from you about yours.

If you stopped by the booth, you likely noticed that we are keen to collect your thoughts and feelings about the existing playground, as well as your hopes for its future. We’re currently in the “visioning phase” of the project, which means we are gathering ideas and trying to get a sense of people’s priorities when it comes to the evolution of the outdoor play area our kids use every day.

happy-boyThanks to all those who took the time to chat with us or who provided a┬ánugget of input via a sticky note. If you didn’t get a chance, there is still time to fill out our online survey here. If you’re interested in learning more, you can also stop by the Grounded in Play wall around the corner from the front desk at Churchill. There, you’ll find an overview of the project and some of the early input that has been gathered from students – who themselves are an invaluable source of data for the visioning phase.

Looking ahead, Committee members are eager to dig in to your ideas as we begin to develop a collective plan for the future of the Churchill┬á playground – one that the entire community will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
